Phillip Isenberg, California's Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta

Today, I sit with a very important man involved with probably the most important water decisions impacting the state of California. Phillip Isenberg is the Chair of the Delta Stewardship Council that will navigate California in providing a more reliable water supply for the state and protect, restore, and enhance the Delta ecosystem.

An Adaptive Approach to Natural Resource Management

An Adaptive Approach to Natural Resource Management

It’s becoming more apparent to find ourselves entangled in conflicts over water in today’s world.

Right now in California, the water uses of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta are under large debate over the splitting of the “environmental waters” from “municipal and agricultural waters”.

The same is true for competing uses of the Colorado River, the Ogallala Aquifer in the mid section of the US and scattered domestic water users across the western US states.

Today I welcome Dennis Bowker who has had a wealth of experiences supporting community based natural resource management issues. And he does it by engaging an “Adaptive approach to management”. Welcome Dennis.

Water Markets, Dr. Michael Young, University of Adelaide, Australia

It is commonplace to hear about Australia in the context of massive fires, drought conditions and shrinking water supplies. Australians have been dealing with these circumstances more than they would like, I’m sure.  And in the process, they have become quite experienced with innovative responses to drought and new view points for managing water.

I have the great privilege to share in conversation with Dr. Michael Young, professor of Economics from the University of Adelaide, Australia.
